About Video Game Design
Interested in pursuing a career in the digital interactive entertainment industry? The Video Game Design program is all about creating technology—not just using it. This application-based learning course is designed for students who wish to become a video game programmers, also known as RTIS (Real Time Interactive Simulation) developers. You’ll learn the coding skills that make games function, as well as the design and art theory that make them visually compelling. The course also highlights how math and written communication play a key role in the video game industry, while introducing you to a range of related career paths. Students should be strong in math and ready for Algebra II.
For Grades: 11-12
Course Length: 1 or 2 years
Credit: .5 Technical English, 1.0 Math, 1.0 Visual Art, .5 Occupational Elective
Prerequisite: None
Location: Tri-Tech Skills Center
Students Will:
- Create original games for web and mobile platforms
- Manage game development from idea to finished product
- Write dynamic programming code in C# and UNITY

College Credits Available: 5 credits
Year-long course must be completed to be eligible for the Technical English Visual Art, or Math credit.
